Clark & Vicki Watts founded Advanced Cable Services in 1985 as a field walkout and manual drafting company with the goal of producing precise and accurate system maps. Thanks to their diverse business sense and sound management techniques, it prospered into a leading provider of engineering services to the telecommunications industry.

Clark's first experience in the telecommunications industry came after attending the University of Texas at Austin. He founded Atlas Communication Services in Marietta, Georgia, and simultaneously owned and operated Surety Communications, a cable company in Texas. Prior to the sale of these financially successful businesses, Clark learned and mastered all aspects of the pre-construction engineering process of the telecommunications industry.
